‘Treading light’ refers to a world that opens up and becomes visible through light. Weightless shadow bodies stretch from underfoot and are captured in time sequences. The images have been turned upside down so that pavements become backdrops for fleeting shadow shows and cartoon-like incidents. Taken in the busiest areas of the City centre, the shadows convey a disturbing sense of quiet.
The photos were produced using cross- processing [developing slide film through normal colour processing] to create strong contrasts and surreal colours. The series was exhibited at Jamaica St Studios and Centre Space gallery in Bristol as part of a group show that I co organised called ‘Shading Angels’.
